Financial literacy and competency and success is a function of someone's understanding of risk. Most people cannot assess the risk of an opportunity, and hence cannot take measures to reduce the risk whilst retaining the potential reward.
Social competency is exactly the same thing. People are not competent at understanding the risks of making friends and building relationships. They have all had problems in the past and are fearful of repeat scenarios - so they don't easily make new friends.
This book will attempt to teach you about managing the risks of building relationships; that is, increase your social literacy or social competancy.
